A feature event on the Ballarat Regional Athletic Centre winter calendar, the Lap of the Lake has a long and proud history of outstanding performances.
Named in honour of two of Ballarat’s best distance runners, the open men and open women will race for the Steve Moneghetti and Roseanne Brisbane trophies respectively.
Having recovered from a recent groin injury, Yoa is back on track to take out his fourth Lap of the Lake title and, like last year, is looking to break the elusive sub 17-minute barrier.
Yoa, along with Moneghetti, Lee Troop and Tony Benson, are the only Ballarat registered athletes in the 16-minute club.
The women’s race could go to any one of four or five competitors.
Scott has been running well and will be determined to make it an impressive six wins in-a-row.
Although Brisbane amassed 10 titles, she never took out six in succession, meaning Scott can be the first runner to achieve the feat.
Starting from St Patrick’s Point, all women will begin the circuit of Lake Wendouree at 2.15pm, before the men depart at 2.45pm.
There will be a range of other junior and senior age group championship races contested during the day.
