Ambulance paramedics treated the girl at the scene after she was hit about 7.45am on Monday.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said she had been transferred to the nearby Royal Children's Hospital in a stable condition and had not sustained serious injuries.
She is believed to have been a pedestrian.
The crash is believed to also be the source of a power failure on Flemington Road, near the Royal Children's Hospital, at Abbotsford Street, North Melbourne.
The power outage threw trams and commuters into chaos but Yarra Trams said services had resumed by about 8.15am.
Route 55, 57 & 59 trams have resumed along their normal lines following an earlier disruption. Delays may occur as we restore the timetable.— Yarra Trams (@yarratrams) May 29, 2016
The collision site also blocked two right lanes outbound on Flemington Road but VicRoads said lanes had been cleared by about 8.15am.
More to come.
