“It comes through in the song Do You Hear The People Sing – it’s about following your dreams,” Dan said.
Dan plays comedic character Thenardier in the production being jointly staged by Loreto College and St Patrick’s College from tomorrow night.
“My character sort of lights up all the darkness. I think it will be fantastic. There’s lots of emotional scenes and lots of funny scenes.
“It’s been fantastic (during rehearsals). Everyone’s so happy to be here.”
Les Miserables is a story of “broken dreams, passion and redemption” set against the French Revolution.

Dan said the show featured everyone from prostitutes and prisoners to revolutionaries, beggars and policemen.
Les Miserables director Marcella Crowley said there were about 100 cast and crew involved in the production, with eight months of rehearsals under their acting belts.
“We thought (Les Miserables) would be a good contrast to the show we did last year, which was Joseph,” Ms Crowley said.
“We did that really well but we thought we would take on a new challenge.
“Choosing this for the St Patrick’s College and Loreto College co-production has made me see how truly loved it is.
“The dedication and teamwork of our cast and crew have demonstrated one of the production’s main messages, love and compassion.”
Loreto College principal Judith Potter said the energy had built week by week during rehearsals.
“Students and staff of both St Patrick’s College and Loreto College have demonstrated exuberance, dedication and sustained hard work to bring this production to life – let us enjoy,” Ms Potter said.
Nathaniel Corboy plays the lead character of Valjean, with Emerson Tolliday as Javert, Madison Veal as Fantine, Tiernan Somers as Marius, Lucy Nolan as Eponine and Anna Tinney as Cosette.
There will be five performances of Les Miserables between tomorrow night and Saturday, with a Friday matinee.
