Competing as a level eight, Adele Brand placed fourth overall after a strong showing which included first place for her efforts on the bars as well as a fourth placing on the vault and beam.
Claire Lightfoot was also impressive over the course of the weekend, placing third overall for level seven. The 11-year-old finished third on the beam as well as coming equal fifth on the bars.
The pair are both part of the Ballarat Aquatics and Lifestyle Centre’s gymnastics program, and will now look ahead to higher competition later in the year. It follows a successful start of the year for the club, with both girls impressing at state trials earlier in 2016.
Thirteen-year-old Brand will compete at the Queensland Border Challenge from June 24 in Caloundra, which will gymnasts from around the country compete.
