Many Australians would be disappointed by the sale of one of our largest land holdings (Cubbie Station) to a Chinese consortium. With the sale of this land goes a large source of our food production. Remember for every hectare we sell there is no replacement. With gusto and great pride we sing Land Of Hope and Glory, but if we continue to sell large parcels of land there will be nothing to sing about.
With the passing of El Nino and hopefully the return of normal seasons and the fair distribution of waters from the Murray Darling Basin, out farmers with their innovative skills should be able to increase our food production and sell our food, not our land.
Our diggers fought under our flag so that future generations would have a free and enjoyable lifestyle. Please stop before it is too late! I would like to see the Foreign Investment Review Board reassess the upper limits of the sale packages. Surely we can increase our food production and export it overseas, especially to China with its huge population. Wake up before it is too late.
