Final scores: Sebastopol 8.10 (58) d Darley 5.18 (48)
Michael Powell was the hero of the day for the Burra with six goals in only his third game for the year and second since returning from a hamstring injury.
Sebastopol coach Shane Snibson said he could hardly be prouder of his players’ effort.
The Burra led by 20 points going into time-on in the last quarter and it took everything it had to stave off Darley, which had most of the play in the closing minutes as it peppered the goals.
This gives Sebastopol its second win of the season and further dents Darley’s finals hopes.
The Devils have just three wins in eight games, but are still just percentage outside the top six.
REDAN was the other big winner of the day – getting over Bacchus Marsh at Maddingley Park in a performance which has the potential to take the Lions season to new level.
Redan 10.10 (70) d Bacchus Marsh 7.13 (55).
Bacchus Marsh had been shaping as the main threat to ladder leader and premiership favourite Lake Wendouree, but Redan has put up its hand to hold this status.
Lions coach Eammon Gill rte-match spoke about the need to get a win over one of the form teams above it ands they delivered to consolidate a place in the top six.
IN other games, Lake Wendouree stretched its unbeaten run to nine with an 81-point hiding of a lack-lustre East Point at Wendouree and North Ballarat City kept Melton South winless at Melton.
The Lakers remain two games clear of Sunbury, which has a bye and three ahead of Bacchus Marsh, Redan and North Ballarat City.
Lake Wendouree 10.18 (138) d East Point 7.15 (57)
North Ballarat City 25.16 (166) d Melton South 10.8 (68)
Ballarat is home to Melton on Sunday.
