His utility, a gleaming 1975 Chrysler VK Dodge , is painted in two-tone blue and white. Was this a factory issue scheme?
Well, no, says Mr Pfeiffer.
“I got a bit of a ding in one side, one time, so I started to repaint it – and I just kept going.”
Mr Pfeiffer says he hasn’t owned the car since new – “almost new,” he says – but it is a favourite of his.
“They were a very good car. Reliable.”
He should know a bit about vehicles over time. Mr Pfeiffer is 90.
“People often ask me how old I am. They think I’m younger than 90. But I am Ballarat born-and-bred. I was born in Eureka Street,” he says.
Mr Pfeiffer grabs his papers, pauses for a quick photo outside The Courier office, and then is off into the traffic in his smart blue and white utility.
