The Mair Street micro-brewery – next door and connected internally to Freight Bar – was previously Rebellion Brewery but has struggled to get permission to open its doors.
Owner Peter Parry said it would be hopefully be up and running by the end of the July.
“It’s a massive relief,” he said.
“We’ve been chasing this since February last year.”
“And (it’s not just a relief for) me and my family, we see it as a benefit, tourism attraction to the town.”
The brewery is set up and just waiting the tick from the City of Ballarat, and Mr Parry said he was now able to get the rest of the planning and business permits.
At the Wednesday night meeting Mr Parry said they would also run ‘self-brew’ sessions so people could make their own beer.
There was opposition from a neighbour who plans to develop the next door site, over parking concerns.
