Federal Member for Corangamite Sarah Henderson announced the $3.75 million package at Mt Duneed.
Under the promise, $667,000 would be put towards improving a 3.4-kilometre section of the Smythesdale-Snake Valley Road.
More than $620,000 would go towards a 2.5-kilometre section of the Smythesdale-Sebastopol Road, while $499,000 would be allocated for a 2.3-kilometre stretch of the Mededith-Steiglitz Road at Meredith.
Works would include sealing shoulders, installing edge lines and raised reflective pavement markers, installing guard fences and upgrading signage. The Meredith-Steiglitz Road would also see 60km/h signs introduced to reduce speed.
“These particular locations will be recognised by locals as sites where accidents have occurred in the past or through their own near misses,” Ms Henderson said.
Golden Plains Shire mayor Des Phelan said the funding would be crucial for the shire’s communities and businesses.
Labor candidate Libby Coker was contacted for comment.
