First-year coach Marc Greig, with undoubtedly the biggest job in the competition, has stripped the preparation of his young list back to the basics.
He has focused on the essentials in the first half of the season and Greig says despite having just the one win the Roosters have had their share of positives in areas of defensive pressure, inside 50s and clearances.
What North Ballarat has to do is turn these “small” wins into premiership points.
Greig said the Roosters had had their chances to do this against Port Melbourne (leading by 22 points at three quarter time), Box Hill (more inside 50s) and Coburg (30 inside 50s to four in the first quarter). On each occasion though they came up short.
North Ballarat get another real opportunity to win against Frankston at Frankston on Saturday.
It is again going to come down to firstly doing the basics and then making the making them count.
