The Emus clinched their first victory of the Central Highlands Football League season - and the first for new joint-coaches Peter Brokenshow and John Northey - with a narrow triumph over Clunes on Saturday.

Skipton snuck home by less than a goal to leave the Magpies as one of two winless teams in the competition after 10 rounds.

Meanwhile, Creswick, Hepburn and Buninyong all celebrated significant player milestones with success on Saturday afternoon.

The Wickers got the job done against Rokewood-Corindhap in Tim Rieniets' 300th club game, the Burras thumped Smythesdale in Alan Ware's 250th senior appearance and Bombers joint-coach Jarrod Morgan was chaired off in his 200th senior outing after his side easily accounted for Dunnstown.

In other games, Gordon won a thriller against Beaufort by two points, Newlyn got home by a goal against a wayward Learmonth, Springbank was comfortable victors against Daylesford, Waubra proved far too good for Ballan and Bungaree trounced cellar-dwellers Carngham-Linton by a whopping 246 points with coach Heath Pyke kicking nine goals.
