MONDAY morning assembly was a little bit different for the pupils at Wendouree Primary School yesterday.
Firefighters from the Wendouree Fire Brigade arrived to help thank the children for their assistance with the brigade’s 2013 calendar.
But this was no ordinary “thank you”, as the uniformed members also presented the school with more than $2000 worth of equipment as payment for the colourful calendar.
A TV/DVD, art equipment and a large set of Lego blocks were donated.
Brigade captain Gary Drabsch said the Wendouree community had always supported the brigade with significant donations and it was nice to give back through the annual calendar drive fundraiser.
“This year the brigade decided to involve the community in developing its 2013 calendar by getting the children from one of the area’s primary schools to contribute art work,” he said.
“All the children’s art work was excellent and had a big impact on how good the calendar looks.”
The Wendouree Fire Brigade’s calendar drive will be held during November.
