In the 12 years of the LPFL, Skipton and Carngham-Linton were the dominant senior teams.
They won five premierships apiece.
Navarre and Rokewood-Corindhap managed to squeeze in for one flag each in the first and fourth seasons of the competition's life.
The picture is much different since they went their separate ways and with Navarre having brought up its 50th consecutive win in the Maryborough Castlemaine District Football Netball League at the weekend it is timely to reflect on the levels of success, or lack of it, they have had.
Navarre, Lexton and Natte Bealiba have enjoyed a great run in the MCDFNL.
Navarre has won the past three premierships and Natte Bealiba claimed one. Although without a flag, Lexton has also been force with one grand final appearance.
Navarre has won 80 of 89 home and away games. Natte Bealiba has had 62 wins and played in every finals series, while Lexton has twice been minor premier in winning 75 times.
Not one of Carngham-Linton, Rokewood-Corindhap, Skipton and Smythesdale have played in Central Highlands Football League finals.
Skipton has had the best season of the quartet – winning eight games when 10th in 2013.
Since joining the CHFL in 2011 Skipton has won 26 of 95 home and away matches, Carngham-Linton 25, Rokewood-Corindhap 15 and Smythesdale just three after being winless through 2012 to 2015.
Throwing the four together, their best came in the first year with a combined 18 wins, when Carngham-Linton and Skipton each saluted seven times.
Ararat Eagles have not done much better in the Mininera District Football League with 10 wins over that period.
Their latest win was in 2014.
And across the board it is a trend which does not look like changing in a hurry.
