A 26-year-old Coburg man has been charged following an alleged assault on the Craigieburn line.

Police spokesman Adam West said Moreland crime investigation unit detectives arrested the man about 12.20pm on Wednesday after a 52-year-old Craigieburn man was assaulted on a train between Broadmeadows and Jacana stations.
"It's alleged that the 52-year-old suffered a laceration to his face," Senior Constable West said.
The arrested 26-year-old has been charged with recklessly causing injury, intentionally causing injury, affray and weapons offences.
The man was remanded to appear at the Broadmeadows Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
