It is encouraging to see that John Burt is standing for election to council.
An outstanding, long-term resident of Ballarat, his record of service to the community is exemplary, as is his vision of what can be achieved for the good of its citizens.
As principal of the Ballarat Specialist School, he has established caring and positive programs for his students at Gillies Street which have given the school an enviable reputation among the best.
In addition the establishment for his students of a farm on the old Ballarat North Tech site has been a wonderful innovation.
Anyone visiting it is immediately aware of John Burt's capacity as a mover and shaker - as well as being savvy at raising government funds for worthy purposes.
He will make a significant contribution to council.
