All the hard work we are pouring into the development of our players...is really starting to pay off.
- Aaron Nunn - AFL Goldfields
Held on Sunday, the event saw more-than 240 junior footballers from the two regions descend on Wendouree Reserve and Northern Oval 2 in an effort to claim the coveted trophy.
Despite AFL Goldfields being unable to regain the silverware, commercial and regional operations manager said they were thrilled with the way Ballarat’s representative sides played.
“We were thrilled with the way all players represented the region against what we consider to be the strongest junior competition in the state,” Nunn said. “It really goes to show that all the hard work we are pouring into the development of our players through academies and representative programs is really starting to pay off and close the gap.”
