Coming off the back of a thumping victory over Albury Wodonga in front of a home crowd on Saturday night, the Rush hit the floor with confidence. Joy Burke’s work inside the paint in the opening minutes exposed the notably smaller Frankston line-up, while Abbey Wehrung worked hard to win the ball off both boards.
However the Lady Blues increased their defensive intensity in the second term, limiting Ballarat to just 11 points for the quarter. Tenaya Phillips and Kelly Bowen led the charge for the hosts as they worked their way back to be within three points at the half.
It was again the Lady Blues with the ascendancy in the third, and with the game in the balance in the final term Frankston hit the lead with four minutes to spare.
Despite Ballarat’s best efforts, the Lady Blues willed themselves on for their second win of the weekend.
