The bitterly cold days will continue, according to Weatherzone, but in terms of snow, we’re done.
“That's all for snowfall - you can expect a few showers with a slight chance of sleet, but all of the moisture has dried up so definitely expect brisk showers and strong winds," said Weatherzone meteorologist Tristan Meyers.
"A high pressure ridge is developing which will see a spell of cold over the next few days, there could be frost on the weekend but warming during the day to temperatures between 9 and 11 degrees which is average for this time of year.
"The wind chill that is pretty strong right now will only lessen as we near the weekend."
COVERAGE FROM THE DAY
The snow threatened in Ballarat on Tuesday afternoon and overnight, it delivered.
The city has woken up to find itself covered in snow after a night in which the temperature never actually dropped below zero degrees.
The coldest it fell was 0.4 degrees at 4am, however the ‘feels like’ (or applied) temperature was as low as -8.2 at 4.30am.
Thick coverings of snow have been recorded throughout the city, although early indications are that Mt Helen and Buniynong might have received the biggest downpour.
