The city has woken up to find itself covered in snow after a night in which the temperature never actually dropped below zero degrees.
The coldest it fell was 0.4 degrees at 4am, however the ‘feels like’ (or applied) temperature was as low as -8.2 at 4.30am.
Thick coverings of snow have been recorded throughout the city, although early indications are that Mt Helen and Buniynong might have received the biggest downpour.

According to the Buereau of Meterology, it hasn’t felt warmer than -4 degrees in Ballarat since 5pm yesterday.
Despite the arctic conditions, many readers braved the conditions to send us photos overnight and this morning.
