The Emus led from start to finish in the icy conditions at Newlyn, shooting away to a comfortable 15-goal advantage by the first break.
From there the visitors proceeded to assert their authority on the contest, extending their lead at every change.
Star goaler Eliza Dwyer again proved the difference for the Emus, providing a consistent target for the centre court players as Skipton ran away 35-goal victors.
We knew we had to improve on a few things and one of those was to lift our intensity across the court.
- Rhian Moresi - Skipton coach
Skipton coach Rhian Moresi said her charges showed improvement in a number of crucial areas from last week’s narrow loss to the Tigers.
“Having that loss last week has made us a little bit more hungry for it, and we knew Newlyn were going to be a good team,” Moresi said.
“We knew we had to improve on a few things and one of those was to lift our intensity across the court, and I thought we really did that.
“We also wanted to make sure we came out and had a good first quarter, and we were able to do that.”
With four rounds left in the season, and a relatively easy run home, the result helps to sure up a top two berth for the Emus. They will come up against a Gordon side next week who remain a finals chance.
Elsewhere in the competition, Springbank ensured its place at the top of the table with a hard-fought 11-goal win over an up-and-coming Waubra side.
Clunes got home in a tight contest against Smythesdale, while Daylesford proved too good for Carngham-Linton.
Learmonth handed out a 57-goal thumping to Rokewood-Corindhap, while Gordon got over the line against Hepburn.
Buninyong eased past Creswick to keep the pressure on the top four, while Ballan cemented its top eight position with an important eight goal success against Dunnstown.
In the final contest of round 14, Bungaree kept its place in the top four with a comfortable 19-goal drubbing of Beaufort.
