Matthew Doolan, 17, is believed to have driven to Cobbannah, 270km east of Melbourne, in a blue Kia Rio with Queensland plates. He has been missing since Sunday morning.
Victoria Police spokesman Paul Turner said police and SES were searching the Mitchell River National Park and surrounding areas.
"Matthew's car was located on Billy Goat Bend Road about 10.55am this morning," Leading Senior Constable Turner said.
Investigators have released an image of Matthew in the hope that someone may be able to provide information as to his whereabouts.
