A MAN accused of helping carry out two assaults in three weeks has been bailed again, despite police allegations he breached his previous bail conditions.
Josh Gornalle, 18, sat slouched with his hands in his pockets in Ballarat Magistrates Court yesterday, where he faced charges including aggravated burglary and intentionally causing injury.
Detective Senior Constable Jeff Highthorn gave evidence in the application to revoke bail, saying police had intercepted a car about 8.30pm Tuesday night in which Gornalle and his co-accused in at least one of the assaults were passengers.
He said Gornalle was not allowed to associate with the co-accused according to bail conditions, and also had a 8pm curfew.
“I just feel this young man has a lot of aggression and will continue to commit offences,” Detective Highthorn said.
To which magistrate Frank Jones said: “I think the word is ‘short fuse’.”
Police allege Gornalle was involved in an aggravated burglary in Wendouree in August where a man was assaulted with a baseball bat in front of a pregnant woman.
Then in September Gornalle allegedly assaulted his housemate and stole a plasma TV and mobile phone.
Gornalle’s father also gave evidence yesterday, saying his son had been drinking less and behaving well since he was bailed the first time.
Defence lawyer David Tamanika said his client had been getting a lift home when the driver went to pick up the co-accused on Tuesday night.
Gornalle is due back in court on January 31 for committal mention.
