VOLUNTEERS will line up their overlockers at the Ballarat South Community Hub tomorrow in support of women with breast cancer.
Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre (BNC) volunteers are making comfort cushions for women recovering from breast cancer and are calling on the public to get involved.
BNC administration officer Heather Merlin said the v-shaped cushions helped to provide physical comfort to women recovering from surgery.
“We’re going to make them from start to finish – and you don’t have to have any sewing skills,” she said.
“They’ll be distributed to hospitals for ladies to use.”
BNC, she said, hoped to make up to 50 cushions on the day if they could get enough volunteers. Bacchus Marsh comfort cushions co-ordinator June Webb would attend the event as the guest speaker, with musical entertainment from Phoneix P-12 Community College students.
A lunch and afternoon tea would also be provided. Ms Merlin said the initiative conicided with the fact October was breast cancer awareness month.
