Kiralee Greenhalgh, 20, is in her final year of Media and Communications at RMIT. She said the film was inspired by the fact she had to make it on the weekend of the federal election, when her crew of 15 was reduced to five.
“Deakin Uni invited Deakin, Swinburne and RMIT students to make a film in 72 hours, from scratch. Our film was shortlisted for an award, and we won the Filmly best post-production and best film overall,” says Ms Greenhalgh.
Kiralee and her partner Sam Burzacott directed, produced and performed in the film, which starts in the horror genre but becomes mockumentary as the film process collapses.
“We had to include a prop, which was a ring, a line of dialogue and a silent sequence. From there we filmed and edited everything.” Ms Greenhalgh hopes to work as a freelance editor and director after her graduation.
