Agricultural teacher Matt Dickinson says the agriculture course at the school is popular with both country and town students.
“We’ve been teaching ag at a senior level, Year 12, for about 20 years. In the last seven or eight years we’ve bought the farm at Mt Rowan, and developed the program into years 10 and 11. There are probably about 70 children doing ag at a senior level,” he says.
Ballarat Grammar student have won 37 Premier’s Awards in the VCE ag courses since 2000.
“I just see it as a chance to get the students excited by agriculture. There are some really good careers and university places available,” says Mr Dickinson.
