Located in North Melbourne, the complex is close to the state’s leading treatment centres and is across the road from the new $1 billion Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre.
The patient accommodation centre has 15 private family apartments and onsite, professional support. It is designed to have a home-like feel for patients who would otherwise have to travel long distances for treatment. Average treatment length for acute leukaemia is six to eight months, with regional and rural patients required to stay in Melbourne an average of four months.
