Jessica Campbell and Reagan Simons were named among some of Hockey Victoria’s best juniors and will now undergo eight weeks of training before traveling to Warrnambool. The teams will take on South Australia and a regional team over the three-day tournament.
Campbell, who has excelled as a goal keeper with WestVic Hockey, will represent at state level for the first time. While Simons a more unique case, making the eight-hour round trip from Portland to train at Melbourne’s State Hockey Centre. The talented midfielder has been a part of the Hockey Victoria Academy and has taken some significant steps in his game over the past twelve months.
Hockey Victoria’s Ben Seccull said Simons was an example of what the Academy was in place for. Ironically, Simons also represented South Australia at national level given his close proximity to the border.
