In a document sent to clubs seen by The Courier, it reveals the review has been commissioned to “examine the sustainability and viability of the current football competitions and design and recommend the optimal structure of senior football competitions in the AFL Goldfields Region for season 2018 and beyond”.
“This will include but not be limited to recommendations specific to affiliated clubs, leagues, umpiring associations and where appropriate, identifying potential impact to affiliated clubs in neighbouring leagues and commissions,” the memo read.
A panel, appointed by AFL Goldfields, will manage the review, which is expected to get underway during the 2017 season.
The Monday, August 8 session will be held at the Sunbury Lions Junior Football Club, the following night is scheduled for Ballarat’s Saxon House, while Carisbrook Football Netball Club is the venue for Wednesday, August 10’s meeting. All three are set to begin at 7.30pm.
AFL Goldfields general manager Rod Ward was contacted by The Courier on Friday, but declined to comment on the review until after the presentations to clubs next week.
