The Rebels conceded the last four goals of the second term to face a seven point deficit at the main break and it was the club’s leaders that made a stand and turned the match in its favour.
The likes of Jarrod Berry, Callan Wellings and Jacob Wheelahan all played a big role in the second half. And it came as no surprise as the ever-reliant and TAC Rolls Royce Hugh McCluggage set the standard with 30 possessions and three goals as his star continues to rise.
“I saw a really good lift from our leaders after half-time,” FitzGerald said.
“I think our leaders said “Ok, it’s a day for us to stand up and help the new boys get through this.”
“They led by example really well. I was really pleased about that because we’ve got a good leadership program.”
The TAC Cup now has a bye before the final two rounds.
