The sale comes as the cinema enters the final stage of its refurbishment.
Four of the 14 twin electric recliners have already sold to be installed in “man caves” and media rooms, Regent Cinemas general manager Stewart Moores said.
“We’re just getting brand new refurbed seats in so we just need to get rid of the old ones,” Mr Stewart said.
“They’re a double chair, fully electric reclining and they’ve got a personal table between the two with a wine cooler holder and they’re a goldy coloured fabric with arm and head covers.”
The seats cost $2500 when new, and will be replaced by electric black leather seats.
Mr Moores said the gold class was still popular with move goers after the cinema introduced it in the ninties.
This is the third refurbishment of the gold class since then.
“It goes gangbusters depending on the film, it’s (the film) is normally a female oriented.
“Weekends are always booked out.”
