Ballarat residents asked to help Anglicare in fight against homelessness

Ballarat residents are encouraged to bring money or food to donate to the city’s homeless at an Anglicare fundraiser next week.

The second annual Anglicare Concert will be held next Thursday. Four bands, including three from the Ballarat High School, will perform.

The manager of Anglicare for Western Victoria Geoff Ryan said the concert would help a worthy cause.

“I estimate there’s about 400 people in Ballarat who are homeless. That includes people who are couch-surfing and who are sleeping out,” he said.

This week, the CEO of Anglicare Paul McDonald and Bishop Garry Weatherall came together for a Celebrity Cook-Off as part of anti-poverty week. The week raises awareness about poverty and hardship in Australia.
