The Tigers will appropriately commemorate their 1966 and 1976 premierships in conjunction with their Maryborough Castlemaine District Football League clash with Natte Bealiba at Lexton.
Ballarat football legend Howard “Plugger” Lockett coached Lexton to the 1966 flag, when it defeated Natte Bealiba 17.11 (113) to 12.9 (81).
Julian Kaye was coach in 1976.
Lexton also beat Natte-Bealiba on that occasion, but it was a much tighter game – 11.15 (81) to 11.9 (75).
Club president Tim Oliver said they were hoping to get back as many players as possible from that era to their old stomping ground to recall some great memories.
These premierships were part of a golden time for Lexton in the Lexton Football League.
It claimed flags in 1945, 1962-3, 1966-67-68, 1971-72, 1974, 1976, 1978, 1983, 1988 and 1992 before moving to the newly formed Lexton Plains league in 1999.
