DANI Stevens never wanted to do a fun run.
The Ballarat mum-of-four never really had either the time or the inclination.
But come tomorrow, Dani will take part in Run Ballarat’s six kilometre race while husband Adrian tackles the 12 kilometre event.
“I had girlfriends that run but I just didn’t see the whole point of it,” Dani said.
“But a few months ago, I thought I’m coming up to 40 in a few years so I’d better give it a go.”
Dani began training in July and is so excited about her first fun run it now features prominently on her fitness and clean food blog, Fitness, Food and Style, which has 24,000 page views per month.
Mum to Noah, 7, Oscar, 5, Mietta, 3 and Zali, 1, Dani began her blog when she gained 30 kilos during her second pregnancy.
“Weeks later, I was struggling and still heavy so I just started with a whole fitness lifestyle and kept track of it on my blog.
“I had no time up my sleeve but I’ve had to make time.”
She began by exercising three to four times a week at home and maintaining a clean food diet.
“I spent so much money on gym memberships but now I just do 15 minutes a day, with one day off for rest and it works so I wanted to share it with other mums.”
Dani’s blog can be found at fitnessfoodandstyle.blogspot.com.au.
The Cotton On Foundation and Adroit Insurance Group Run Ballarat will be held tomorrow morning, beginning in Sturt Street near Pleasant Street and finishing at the City Oval.
All money raised will go towards the Ballarat Health Services Base Hospital children’s ward redevelopment.
There are three event distances, an 11 kilometre run, six kilometre run and six kilometre walk.
