US media reports say the golfer was arrested outside a casino in the early hours of Saturday morning, with sources citing the local police department.
USA Today reported that Allenby, 45, was arrested outside the Jumer's Casino around 2.30am local time. It said he was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing, and that a bond of $US1,500 had been set.
Local website WQAD8 claims to have seen the arrest warrant from the Rock Island Police Department, which reportedly shows that Allenby was taken to the Rock Island County Jail just after 4am local time.
Allenby, 45, missed the cut at the John Deere Classic by three strokes after shooting even-par 142.
The Australian's off-course activities hit the headlines last year following a bizarre incident in Hawaii after he missed the cut at the Sony Open. Allenby woke up with a bloodied scrape on his forehead and a black eye, and claimed he'd been robbed, kidnapped and beaten.
A local man was later arrested and sentenced to five years' jail in connection with the case.
