Police release photo of Telstra store thieves

Police have released new images of the men they believe are responsible for a ram-raid at the Telstra store in the Bridge Mall on Tuesday night.

The men, pictured on the Ballarat’s Safe Street cameras, were wearing hooded jumpers and are in their late teens or early 20s.

Detective Senior Constable Barry Hills said investigators want anyone who knows the identity of the two men pictured to come forward.

Police say a stolen vehicle was driven into a roller door at the back of the Bridge Mall store a number of times, allowing two men to gain entry and steal thousands of dollars worth of phones and accessories during the heist.

Police are concerned the ram-raid could be a copycat crime, after a ute was used to ram the VicRoads office on Monday night, but nothing was taken on that occasion.

Detective Senior Constable Hills said the older-model wagon used in the Telstra store ram-raid was stolen from Ballarat Toyota.

Anyone with information can call police on 5336 6080 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
