Max Noble and Ben DeBortoli claimed victory in respective individual events and then combined to help Victoria to team success at the weekend.
Noble won the 16-17 years +76kg division and DeBortoli took out the 16-17 years -76kg category before partnering with two other fighters to triumph for their state.
In the teams competition, Victoria beat New South Wales and then Queensland in the final to claim gold.
Fellow WestVic member Joel Hennessey was also in the medals at the 45th AKF National Championships, held in Melbourne.
Hennessey snared bronze in the under-21 male -84kg section, but was injured and didn’t compete in the teams division.
The trio is now straight into preparations for the Oceania championships, which take place next month in Noumea, New Caledonia.
“All three boys have been supported by WestVic for two years or more and in that time have accessed crucial support services such as strength and conditioning coaching, sport psychology, nutrition and mentoring regarding marketing themselves and job hunting,” WestVic executive officer Rob Ward said.
“Max and Ben are currently supported through WestVic’s very successful partnership with Bacchus Marsh Grammar School, while Joel was introduced through that and is now an individual member athlete.”
