It is believed the four-year-old wandered into a paddock with another small child at his grandparent’s property near Gordon when he was kicked in the head.
Media reported the boy suffered head injuries after the horse kicked him in the head at about 12.30pm however no adult witnessed the incident.
The boy was in a critical condition until late Tuesday night, when a hospital spokesperson said his condition had stabilised.
He is believed to have been driven to Ballan Hospital by his parents, where his condition necessitated an air ambulance be called to take him to Melbourne.
Paramedics worked on the boy for about an hour before he was airlifted from the Ballan football oval at about 1.30pm and taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital.
6PM: A pre-school aged boy is fighting for his life after an incident at his grandparent’s farm near Gordon.

A hospital spokesperson said the boy was currently in a critical condition.
He is believed to have been driven to Ballan Hospital by his parents.

3PM: A pre-school aged boy has been airlifted to the Royal Children’s Hospital after an incident near Gordon.
It is believed the boy was kicked by a horse.
Ambulance Victoria received a call at 12.30pm.
He was airlifted to the Royal Children’s Hospital from the Ballan Football Oval.
The boy was airlifted about 1.30pm and is now at the Royal Children’s Hospital.
Ambulance Victoria is yet to report his condition.
