Rioli was taken at pick 15 in the 2015 National Draft and rapidly rose into senior contention to debut in round one. His speed and creativity inside the forward 50 providing glimpses for the future and similarities to his superstar cousin – Cyril.
The 19-year-old has played 17 games in his opening season and has played the last seven matches at AFL level, cementing himself in the Tiger forward line.
Rioli was among the best in Richmond’s nine-point loss to St Kilda on the weekend, gathering a career-high 16 possessions and kicking two goals to go along with his usual tackling pressure.
Rioli is the third Rebel to be nominated for the AFL Rising Star, following Oscar McDonald last week and Jacob Hopper in round eight.
