The resonance of the play, which follows a vet who has post traumatic stress disorder, has grown in the six years since it was first put on.
“You can see by people crying after or during the show,” he said.
“The first time we did it in this new season one guy stood up and said ‘that was me’.”
Mr Finlay’s brother fought in the battle of Long Tan and developed late onset PTSD.
“He suppressed it all for 30 years and then in his 50s things started getting out of control in his life and so I’ve based a lot of this on him.”
Foxholes of the Mind is on at Wendouree Centre of the Performing Arts on Sunday, August 28 at 4pm.
