The Burra finished a game clear of Redan in sixth place to book their first finals appearance since 2006, and will now face seasoned finals campaigners Lake Wendouree in an elimination final this Saturday.  

“There is a great excitement around it, but at the same time there’s a level of seriousness because we’ve been striving for this for four years, so now we’re finally here we want to make sure we do everything right in the process,” Sebastopol coach Georgia Cann said.  

The Lake Wendouree line-up will be fresh in the minds of the Burra after the two sides met a fortnight ago.  Sebastopol established an eight-goal lead early in the contest before being chased down to lose 61-57.  

In the remaining elimination final, Ballarat will do battle with Sunbury for a place in the second week.

Sunbury looked certain to secure third spot on the ladder, however a shock loss to Darley on the weekend consigned the Lions to fourth.  

They will face a vastly improved Swans outfit which boasts one of the league’s most dominant goalers in Kelly Moran. 

Sunbury coach Karen Meredith said the regularly changing Lions line-up had made it difficult for the side to gel throughout the year.  “I think it will come down to how accurate we are at the post, because that has let us down this year.
