Police are investigating the armed hold-up of a Lydiard Street North convenience store on Sunday afternoon.

A man described as wearing a green poncho allegedly used a syringe to threaten a staff member, stealing his mobile phone and cash in the shop at around 1.30pm.
He then fled down Lydiard Street towards the city.
Criminal Investigation Unit police attended the scene soon after and established a crime scene, taping off the footpath and questioning nearby staff at the Miners Tavern.
The shop has only recently opened and the owner had previously expressed concerns about security.
