Football Federation Victoria and the City of Ballarat have given the green light for possible changes to the Ballarat Red Devils’ structure which could result in the formation of a new club.

Red Devils members will vote on changes to the club structure put forward buy the board at a special meeting on September 15, which if passed could dissolve the current club.
The meeting comes as the club seeks to renew is National Premier Leagues license with FFV.
The Red Devils were one of the league’s founding clubs in 2013, however all original clubs are required to update their licence at the end of the 2016 season.
FFV football operations general manager Matthew Annells said FFV supported the board’s decision to analyse the club’s corporate structure, and would work with any incarnation of the club to ensure the longevity of soccer in the region.
FFV has met with the club as well as council, sponsors and the Ballarat and District Soccer Association to ensure the future of the competition in the region.
“FFV has worked closely with the club and its board over the past 12 months to ensure the long term viability of the club and the NPL pathway in the Ballarat region,” Annells said.
“We understand that the board is currently working towards ensuring the club’s governance structure best provides for the ongoing management and success of the Club, for and on behalf of its members.
“FFV is wholly supportive of that process and those goals and will continue to work with the club and the board to ensure that the Ballarat district is represented at NPL level in Victoria.”
The City of Ballarat is also a major sponsor of the Red Devils, and owns the club’s home ground Morshead Park. City of Ballarat mayor Des Hudson said the council was committed to supporting an elite pathway in the region, and would continue to support the club regardless of any changes to its corporate structure.
