Hodgson has no doubt the Cobras’ Daniel Burton earns the title, while Horwood is adamant there is no one better than his big man David Kovacevic.
Each has plenty of evidence to support the claims.
Burton and Kovacevic will provide the best evidence though when they go head-to-head in the second semi-final at the Eastern Oval on Saturday – the first time the teams have met since round one.
Hodgson said Bacchus Marsh might have not have got as far as it had without Burton – that was how important he was.
He said Burton had been recruited as a full forward and was significantly better than the opening round, when he and Kovacevic shared the honours.
Horwood said Kovacevic had had a terrific year, leading from the front and carrying the side over the past six weeks. He said this clash would be a crucial part of the game and worth going to see.
