McCluggage polled 16 votes from 10 games to outpoint Dandenong Stingrays’s Dan Allsop and Gippsland Power’s Callan McKeon.
Given the classy midfielders national commitments for Vic Country he played six less games than Allsop and four less than McKeon but still managed to take out the prestigious award.
McCluggage made a habit of racking up big numbers on a weekly basis, averaging 29 touches a game and kicking 23 goals for the season.
McCluggage, who is firmly in the discussion as this year’s number one draft pick, delivered four best on ground performances, none better than his clinical display against Bendigo Pioneers where he racked up 36 disposals, eight clearances and kicked five majors.
McCluggage and teammate Willem Drew were both named in the TAC Cup Team of the Year.
