THERE are often a lot of weddings in October – but not many look as though the ceremony took place centuries ago.
But that’s what happened at Kirks Reservoir on Saturday, when Ballarat couple Satania Dyson and Gene Camilleri tied the know in a pagan medieval-style wedding.
And, as if the theme of the wedding was not unusual enough, the ceremony was created especially for the couple.
With a number of historic ceremonies, including Celtic and Viking rituals, the couple were married at Kirks Reservoir.
A former employee at Kryal Castle, the newly titled Mrs Camilleri said she had always been intrigued by medieval history and had dreamed of having a wedding with such a theme.
Her family ancestry also has pagan ties.
“I really like the medieval theme. It was always something I wanted to do,” she said.
“I loved the ceremony and it was great to have such good friends there.” The couple have four children – Tanisha, nine, Rowhan, five, Siahara, three, and Jaxon, two.
