Organiser Liz Kelly said more than 200 people attended the annual festival that has “put Dean on the map”.
“It has become an important event, it’s putting Dean on the map,” Ms Kelly said.
“Dean doesn’t really exist on the map, there are no signs to Dean but the festival is important as a community building exercise.”
Billy Johnston, 4, was one of the many children that made their own kites at the popular event.
Ms Kelly said the day was a family bonding exercise.
“It brings the families together and gets the kids outdoors and playing with their parents and their siblings,” Ms Kelly said.
Experts also taught children the art of making a kite.
