Hayden Coleman, 18, of Kangaroo Flat, died after he was stabbed at a house on Energetic Street in the Bendigo suburb of Ironbark.

Paramedics were called to the house about 7.15pm. Ambulance Victoria spokesman John Mullen said the man was found unconscious, with wounds to his upper body.

"CPR was being performed when the paramedics arrived and they continued to attempt to resuscitate the man," he said.

Detectives raided a Kangaroo Flat home on Sunday morning.

Police surrounded the property about 10.30am, then forced entry after requesting  multiple times for the occupants to surrender, according the The Bendigo Advertiser.

On Monday morning a police spokeswoman said detectives were "speaking to a man following the death of another man in Ironbark on Saturday night".

She said that, as the investigation was still ongoing, police would not provide any further comment at this stage.

Mr Coleman's sister, Manny Coleman, wrote an emotional tribute about the teenager and posted it to Facebook on Sunday night.

The post was accompanied by an audio recording of the victim, who was believed to be an aspiring rapper.

"Last night I got a phone call that ripped me apart, I lost my brother and my best friend," she said in the post.

"His life was taken too soon he had so many good things coming his way, nothing can ever replace the emptiness I am feeling.

"Hayden was not only my blood he was truly my knight in shinning armour always had my back and was always there when I needed someone.

"We literally had what I thought was an unbreakable bond until some little feral took his life and every shred of hope I had with it.

"And even know this doesn't feel real yet like he's going to walk in the door any second my heart is broken. I will make Hayden proud and remind everyone who HFC was. I love you Hayden."
