Lions coach Rick Horwood made the tough call to drop Bridgland to make way for the return of Dwain Sanderson, who missed the preliminary final with a work-related injury.

Horwood said there was not a suitable match-up for Bridgland.

Bacchus Marsh has as expected named an unchanged team.

The Cobras have been largely injury free in the latter part of the season, ensuring a stable line-up as it pursues its first BFL premiership.

Lachlan Phyland missed Bacchus Marsh’s qualifying final win over Lake Wendouree with a heel problem.

He returned for the second semi-final victory against Sunbury, when he was carefully managed.

Phyland is one of several players who have had minor niggles to have benefitted from a week off.

Coach Travis Hodgson said the Cobras had rounded off their preparation with a regular light Thursday night session of about 40 minutes.

He said they had had their main hit-out on Sunday, without too much physical contact, and then trained again on Tuesday. Hodgson said he was pleased with the preparation, with his players ready to go.
