BACKS: Grant Valles - Has settled into the backline and become a steady head in the last line defence. Not unusual to him push into the midfield to add to the Lions' defensive mindset and rebounding power.

BACKS: Joe Redfern - Powerful key position player who has settled into a key defensive spot, where he has the strength to take on the might of the Cobras' power forwards. Has come into impressive form.

BACKS: Dwain Sanderson - Back from injury and super reliable. Not a player who stands out, but rarely fails to deliver not matter what the assignment he gets, and they can be varied in a disciplined defence.

HALF BACKS: Roger Allen - Mid-sized player who has forced his way back into the team in the finals. His pace and mobility allows him to fit in wherever the need arises.

HALF BACKS: Adam Short - Highly reliable defender who usually gets the job on on the most dangerous opposition forward. Strong in all areas of game, aerially or at ground level, with the ability to match up on small or tall. Excellent leader.

HALF BACKS: Ben McInneny - Spends most of his time across half back, going about his business in a workman-like fashion. Solid contributor who has been consistent throughout the campaign.

CENTRES: Tim Hill - Bounced back hard after suspension to make his presence felt in preliminary final. Hard going type who has no hesitation in mixing it up.

CENTRES: Alik Magin - Boom recruit who has had massive year. Slight in stature, but rarely wastes a possessiongetter as brings players into the game with outstanding touch. Dangerous at stoppages and capable of turning a game.

CENTRES: Nathan Wood - A graduate of the Sunbury junior program who has had some break-out games as part of a leading edge midfield.

HALF FORWARDS: Tom Donoghue - Part of a pacy onball/midfield brigade who can build up touchs unassumingly. Had an excellent preliminary final in which he triggered an early comeback. Has knack of being able to break up play.

HALF FORWARDS: Jack Sullivan - One of  four 2012 Sunbury premiership teams lining up. Mobile key forward and one of the most agile of the big men, and there are plenty of them. Not a big goalkicker, but brings smalls into game.

HALF FORWARDS: Matthew Medcraft - Lively small onballer with explosive pace who can do real damage with his speed. Big possession-getter and with his experience is always a danger once he gets near goal.

FORWARDS: Jesse Flannery - One of a string of Sunbury smalls who regularly lead the way offensively. Near too far away from goal and another who needs to be watched closely.

FORWARDS: Josh Burgess - Like all Sunbury talls has the capability of playing in a variety positions, but at his best in attack on the lead. Has potential to be a match-winner when is able to utilise overhead marking ability.

FORWARDS: Jack Landt - One of the BFL's best small forwards. The Lions' leading goalkicker this season, with the ability to find the big sticks from a spillage or hit-up forward. Only needs smallest of opportunities to be a real menace.

RUCKS: David Kovacevic - Outstanding ruckman and one of the best in the business in the BFL. Linchpin to Sunbury's game plan. Ensures there is a constant feed for the extensive midfield he works with to ignite the Lions.

RUCKS: Andrew Duhau - Sunbury captain who usually plays on-ball, but has the size to drop into defence or provide pivotal support in the goal-to-goal line. Experience an important steadying factor.

RUCKS: Greg Hay - Bustling onballer who played in the 2012 Sunbury premiership. Does a lot of hard work at stoppages which can go unseen, but also likes to find the open spaces. Smart ball user.

INTERCHANGE: Jesse McInneny - Yet another big best suited to either supporting David Kovacevic in the ruck or close to goal in attack, where he spends most of his time and has the ability to stretch an often small defence.

INTERCHANGE: Chris Tsardakis - Returned from injury mid-season and as an old-fashioned utility offers various options. Astute ball user who makes the most of what possesions he gets. Works hard off the ball.

INTERCHANGE: Josh Guthrie - Had a reprieve top get late call-up for preliminary final and made the most of the opportunity. Comes off the bench and can get any number of roles in and around the midfield.

INTERCHANGE: Reece Wood - Versatile player who like many of his teammates is able to be worked through various rotations. Has not missed a game this season.

Coach: Rick Horwood - Has made his fourth grand final in six years at the helm. However, there is still only one premiership to his name at Sunbury.
