Melbourne and Northcote will battle it out at the Eastern Oval on Saturday, October 22.
The scheduling of the Bush Bash fixture – which Ballarat hasn’t hosted since 2014 – means the BCA has shifted the opening day of the round two fixtures in firsts, seconds, thirds and fourths to Sunday, October 23. All juniors and one-day A, B and C-grade matches will remain on the Saturday as planned.
Star Ballarat exports Blake Thomson and Matt Short and expected to play in the match. Thomson is aligned to Melbourne, while Short is with Northcote. The pair both played cricket with BCA club East Ballarat and now hold Cricket Victoria contracts.
According to the VPC website, the Bush Bash round is an opportunity to showcase the top level of competition in the state and is an annual highlight of the league’s calendar.
It has been part of the VPC season since 1993, with Ballarat one of the prominent venues over the years.
Ballarat has hosted the second most Bush Bash matches with 15.
